Another incredible year at the Halberg Games saw the spotlight fall on two of our rising stars—Toro Ina and Qweenie Poi Rua—who proudly represented Tāmaki Touched and the IPIR Programme.
Held at King’s College, the Annual Halberg Games is a celebration of ability, inclusion, and the power of sport to bring communities together. As part of the delivery crew for Turbo Touch, Toro Ina and Qweenie played key roles in ensuring participants were welcomed, engaged, and supported throughout the day.
From leading warm-ups to encouraging players on the field, their presence was more than just practical—it was inspirational. They demonstrated the value of rangatahi leadership and the positive impact youth can make when trusted with responsibility and purpose.
The IPIR (Igniting Potential in Rangatahi) Programme is grounded in building pathways for young people to develop leadership skills, gain real-world experience, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Toro Ina and Qweenie are shining examples of that kaupapa in action.
We are so proud of their dedication, confidence, and passion. Their work at the Halberg Games is not only a testament to their own growth but also a beacon for what’s possible when we invest in the potential of our young people.
To Toro Ina and Qweenie – thank you for leading with heart. The future is brighter because of you.
