OUR STORY

Tāmaki Touched was created to bring whānau and communities together through positive, inclusive, and accessible experiences that go beyond sport. Established in 2016 through a collaborative community approach, the programme was designed to break down barriers to participation and create opportunities for people of all ages, fitness levels, and backgrounds to connect, move, and thrive together.

Built around a whānau-first model, Tāmaki Touched creates safe and welcoming environments where tamariki, rangatahi, parents, grandparents, and friends can all participate side-by-side. Through social sports, cultural activities, fitness sessions, music, kai, and community activations, the focus is not just on competition — but on connection, wellbeing, fair play, and creating positive experiences for everyone involved.

At its heart, Tāmaki Touched is about strengthening communities, empowering local people, and creating spaces where whānau feel supported, valued, and inspired to live active and connected lives together.

WHAT'S ON IN TĀMAKI

IPIR PROGRAMME

The IPIR Programme empowers rangatahi through youth development, leadership, and community engagement opportunities that help build confidence, resilience, and cultural identity. Grounded in the values of Manaakitanga, Rangatiratanga, Whanaungatanga, Ako, and Kaitiakitanga, the programme equips young people with practical and transferable skills that support their personal growth, wellbeing, and future pathways. →

Across Tāmaki, rangatahi involved in the IPIR Programme have achieved success in sport, leadership, event delivery, creative industries, coaching, and community initiatives. Through hands-on experiences and mentoring, they have developed confidence, strengthened connections within their communities, and become positive role models who continue to inspire and uplift others around them.
